Platelet Rich Plasma treatments, aka PRP treatments, are on the rise in the aesthetic industry. Laser Lounge Med Spa is a part of this exciting movement and we are thrilled to be one of the first places in Georgetown, Texas to offer PRP treatments. You’re probably asking  yourself what exactly is PRP? The technique involves a simple blood draw from the patient. Your blood is then spun in a centrifuge at a rapid rate to separate the platelets from other components of blood, which activates the platelet-rich plasma. The PRP is extracted and then used in either a facial or reinfected into specific sites. PRP is plasma concentrated with more platelets than what is typically found in blood, which contain hundreds of proteins called growth factors and are important to healing soft tissue injuries. Platelet Rich Plasma stimulates new cell growth in the patient’s body wherever it is injected. It helps the body heal itself the natural way without using chemicals or foreign substances of any kind, and with no down time. Because it is your own blood there is virtually no risk of intolerance or allergy.

Sometimes PRP is referred to as the Vampire Facial or the Blood Facial. Kim Kardashian brought a lot of attention to the Vampire Facial after she posted a bloody picture of herself post procedure. That picture was of course for drama and attention and who would expect anything less from a Kardashian right? We can promise you that you’re not going to leave our office looking like something from a horror movie. PRP doesn’t look like blood at all, in fact it has more of a yellowish tint to it. We can also promise that our PRP doesn’t come with a $1500 price tag like Kim’s.

We will offer three types of PRP treatments, PRP Facials with micro needling, PRP Facelifts and PRP Hair Restoration.

The PRP facial stimulates collagen production in the skin using micro-needling. PRP will stimulate new cell growth, add volume to the skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, minimize the appearance of scars, acne scars and stretch marks. Micro-needling breaks up any present scar tissue, and the PRP deposits the proteins back into the skin tissue to aid in the growth of new tissue. The result provides clients with firmer skin and smoother texture.

A PRP facelift is when the PRP is injected back into specific sites. This can provide fullness and volume where needed. It also creates a feeling of firmness and stimulates collagen production. The PRP can be injected alone or combined with other cosmetic fillers such as Juvederm.

PRP for hair restoration is just what it sounds like. For men and women alike this procedure injects the PRP into the scalp to help with thinning and/or loss of hair. Clients not only have a fuller head of hair they also claim that their hair is a healthier texture.

All PRP treatments will be administered by a Registered Nurse at Laser Lounge Med Spa in Georgetown, TX and at our sister spa Inspire Med Spa in Austin, TX.
